Nihonmachi Terrace

1615 Sutter Street, San Francisco

This project modernized and remodeled an existing senior housing complex in San Francisco's Japantown neighborhood. The project involved seven buildings (one 13-story highrise type, one 4-story wood frame, one 3-story wood frame, and 4 townhome buildings) and associated sitework. As an occupied rehabilitation, this project required complex phasing and extensive logistical efforts in order to complete the work while minimizing tenant relocations and disruptions. This was a HUD regulated project and subject to local hiring goals.

"The project to upgrade and renovate the 245 units in the 7 buildings on the site, while residents were occupying the facility, was a mammoth effort that was handled with professionalism and heart. ...I recommend Cahill Contractors, Inc. to those considering building and looking for a trustable partner to work with, especially projects requiring a high level of sophistication and care."
