St. Dominic's Church - Restoration

2390 Bush Street, San Francisco

After the church was determined to be seismically unstable and sustained extensive damage during the 1989 earthquake, St. Dominic's undertook a project to retrofit the church, including the addition of 9 flying buttresses and a ring beam that connects them at the roof line. Work included surgical demolition of earthquake damaged portions of the church and the construction of new foundations and structure. In addition to performing all of the construction work, Cahill played a major role with the architect and the structural engineer in the planning and implementation of this project. The seismic/structural phase of this project was completed in July 1992.
