Stanford University Medical Center - Children's Home Pharmacy
Reconfiguration of 8,000 s.f. of existing office and warehouse space into an OSHPD 3 pharmacy, a clean room, offices, warehouse storage, and a loading dock. Project trades were design-build.
The pharmacy equipment was relocated from an existing pharmacy in Palo Alto and had to be removed, relocated and recertified at the new location. The clean room was required to adhere to specific standards including mechanical, ventilation, air quality, temperature and pressure control. The pharmacy features the use of Grifols prefabricated clean rooms. The Grifols system has aluminum wall panels and includes many equipment elements including HEPA filters, hand dryers, and the interlocking anteroom vestibule doors to positive and negative pressure rooms. Placing a secure pharmacy facility in a glass office building was inherently challenging and required unique solutions, such as replacing glazing with exterior louvers for exhaust and intake air.
