Cahill is a strong supporter of workforce development programs, seeking to build, strengthen, and diversify the talent entering the construction workforce. These activities include:
- Being an active participant in local hiring and pre-apprenticeship programs Including Citybuild, CAPSA, Cypress Mandela, and others by:
- Assisting with teaching class sessions
- Funding OSHA10 safety courses for participants
- Actively hiring from these programs, and supporting new hires with mentoring and professional development
- Participating in youth and career development through John O’Connell High School, Oakland Unified School District, UniteSF, ACE Mentoring, and more
- Offering internships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds through
- Construction Industry Workforce Initiative (CIWI)
- San Francisco and East Bay public school internships
- ICA Christo Rey of San Francisco work-study program
